About the Site

EnviroMysteries: Inside Stories was created for students in the middle grades studying health and science and their teachers. It concentrates on the examination of environmental health concerns — problems that occur when something in our environment impacts our health.

The stories in this interactive are designed to help students think as scientists to investigate an environmental health crisis. They gather evidence from the story line and embedded resources in each one that clarify the science behind the story.

Each story is open-ended. Environmental health problems are very complicated issues. These stories will help students understand some of the complexities of the issues presented and realize that there is not always one right answer to the problems raised. The students have to use what they have learned to offer a well-informed solution that concludes the story.
